AN APPROACH TO STEWARDSHIP
The Church of England Pensions Board (CoEPB) provides retirement income for 40,000 members who have worked for the Church of England, managing funds in excess of £2.8 billion.
This case study outlines CoEPB’s approach to stewardship and engagement – covering proxy voting, screening, asset manager selection, monitoring and direct corporate engagement. It provides examples of actions that can be taken as well as some ‘top tips’ from CoEPB for fellow trustees.
This practical example is part of an ESG Toolkit for Pension Chairs and Trustees that A4S has created to support trustees identify the practical steps to embedding environmental, social and governance considerations into their investment decisions, reporting, and engagement across the investment chain.
