ENGAGING ASSET MANAGERS TO SUPPORT NET ZERO EMISSIONS GOAL
The BT Pension Scheme (BTPS) is the UK’s largest corporate pension scheme, with net assets of over £57 billion. It is a defined benefit, closed scheme, with approximately 280,000 members, paying around £2.5 billion in benefits a year.
This case study shows how BTPS is engaging with its external fund managers to ensure alignment with its net zero emissions by 2035 goal. It provides examples of actions that can be taken as well as some ‘top tips’ from BTPS for fellow trustees.
This practical example is part of an ESG Toolkit for Pension Chairs and Trustees that A4S has created to support trustees identify the practical steps to embedding environmental, social and governance considerations into their investment decisions, reporting, and engagement across the investment chain.
